2010
02.11

It shouldn’t be too much longer until the full schedule for 2010 is released, but until then, we’ve decided to take a quick look ahead at the teams we know we’ll be facing in 2010. These are all quality non-conference games for Toledo, against a few teams we have faced before and a few fresh faces.

Opponent: Arizona
2010 matchup: September 3 – Toledo, Ohio (Glass Bowl)

Prior record: (0-2) both @ Arizona

Arizona finished 2009, 8-5 (2-2 non-conf.) and was 3-3 playing on the road.

It’d be nice to start the season off on the right foot with a good showing against Arizona – we’ve struggled in the past averaging just 13 points against Arizona (Wildcats have averaged 32 pts) in our first two meetings.

Opponent: Purdue
2010 matchup: September 25 – West Lafayette, Indiana (Ross-Ade Stadium)

Prior record: (2-3) two @ Toledo, three @ Purdue

Purdue finished 2009, 5-7 (1-3 non-conf.) and 3-4 at home.

Toledo defeated Purdue in 1997, and it’s been downhill since then, with Purdue scoring 52 pts in each of the last two meetings (2007 and 2009) and winning both contests.

Opponent: Wyoming
2010 matchup: October 2 – Toledo, Ohio (Glass Bowl)

Prior record: (0-0) First game against Wyoming

Wyoming finished 2009, 7-6 (3-2 non-conf.) and 3-3 playing on the road.

Wyoming is coming off a successful season where they exceeded many expectations including defeating Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl.

Opponent: Boise State
2010 matchup: October 9 – Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium)

Prior record: (0-0) First game against Boise State

Boise State finished 2009, 14-0 (6-0 non-conf.) and 7-0 at home.

Boise State is the most dangerous opponent on the Rocket’s schedule for 2010 (and I say that without seeing the rest of the schedule) The Broncos were unstoppable last season (literally) and their smallest margin of victory was 7 pts to (then) undefeated TCU. Average margin of victory was 24 points across the season. We’ll have to bring our A game to this one.

  1. Very nice OOC Schedule…

  2. Not too bad of a non conference schedule. We need to beat Arizona and Wyoming before going into MAC Play. That would set our season up nicely. Purdue and Boise are going to be tough games! I was at the Purdue game last year, and UT did not get the wheels turning until the second half. I’m going to make the trip out to Purdue again this season.

    Go Rockets!
