Senior kicker Alex Steigerwald (Mayfield Village, OH) was named the West Division Special Teams Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference for his performance in Toledo’s 47-21 victory over Eastern Michigan on Nov. 20.

Great to see another Toledo player getting recognized for their athletic achievements. Steigerwald is the kind of solid kicker that gets the job done. Sometimes the kicking game gets overlooked in modern college football, and it’s great to has a kicker in your program, like Alex, so you can worry a little less about whether he’s be able to get the job done. Steigerwald is one of the best kickers ever in the MAC:

Steigerwald’s career field-goal percentage of 82.5 percent (47-of-57) ranks second all-time in MAC history behind UT’s Jason Robbins (82.6 from 2002-05).
